Meet The Mums
Bikeability Mum's Panel
To ensure we are in touch with how cycling can fit into family life and have a clear understanding of what, if any, are the barriers to children cycling more often, we have recruited our very own 'Bikeability Mum's Panel'. All of our mums and their children (aged six and upwards) have completed their Bikeability training and have volunteered to come on board to champion Bikeability and offer valuable experience and feedback.
“Both of my boys cycle to school while I walk along beside them – when they're old enough we’ll let them make the journey alone. Making sure that our kids know how to cycle safely should be a top priority, Bikeability is a great idea.”
Emma Calloway

“My sons are always asking if we can go on a bike ride, we try and get out as a family as much as we can. I think encouraging kids to pass their Bikeability so they can cycle to school is brilliant, it's so good for them to get some fresh air.”

“We love going off for bike rides as a family on the weekend – it's a great way to spend time together. When my children are old enough I'm keen for them to do their Bikeability, I think training is really important in giving them the confidence to cycle safely.”

“I think it's really important that all children should have the opportunity to prove their Bikeability while they're at school. It would make such a difference to the school run, and to the children's confidence.”

“Cycling to school gives kids a great start to their day, and training can help to reassure mums that their kids will be safer on the roads. I'm really excited to represent Bikeability, and hope that it will help more mums allow their kids to travel to school by bike.”
Alison Mewett

“I think it's important for kids to be responsible for themselves, and to learn to be independent. My son and daughter love using their bikes to get to see their friends, and Bikeability will give them and other kids the chance to understand how to cycle safely. I'm all for it!”
