Partnership
A partnership working approach can bring many benefits to cycle training scheme providers and help ensure best value for use of your resources.
These include:
» Integration with other policies, plans and projects.
» Shared costs of projects.
» Maximised funding potential.
» Improved understanding of partners' powers, responsibilities and limitations.
» Benefits to other authorities.
It is important to evidence pro-active links with a full range of professional and NGO bodies, local CTC groups or cycle clubs to ensure partnership working is not just a ‘ticking the box' exercise.
There are more than 200 local CTC groups based in the UK. If you are not already working with them you can find their details by visiting ctc.org.uk or calling 0870 873 0060.
Depending on your organisation and location you may also wish to consider the following:
» Local Authorities
» School Travel Plans
» Promote cycle training at local council meetings
» Neighbourhood travel teams – if they exist in the area
» TravelWise
» Companies with travel plans
» PCTs as part of the active lifestyles programmes/GPs cycling for health
» Local cycle campaign groups
» Universities (especially for new students in September)/Colleges
» Local Sustrans representative
