Scheme Accreditation
This section of the Bikeability website is designed to provide all the content and materials required for delivering a cycle training course to both children and adults that meets the Bikeability standard. It includes all the information you are likely to need whether you have been working as a cycling instructor for many years or if you have recently joined the profession.
Getting your cycle training scheme Bikeability accredited couldn't be simpler. It is a quality assurance standard that all trainers and schemes can apply for providing they follow the National Standards for cycle training and courses are delivered by qualified National Standard instructors.
The process involves submitting evidence detailing how your course is delivered and the course management policies and procedures that support this. These policies and procedures need to be appropriate to delivering a cycle training course and mitigate the risk to both yourself as a cycle instructor and those you are training.
There are different processes for accreditation depending on the type of organisation you are and how the delivery of training is managed. As many new models for this delivery are emerging more appropriate methods of accrediting them are also being developed.
If you are not sure about which accreditation process you should be using then please email bikeability@sdgworld.net for further guidance.
