This award recognises a young individual who has excelled during Bikeability cycle training. They show commitment and determination to completing cycle training. They have continued to cycle beyond Bikeability training.

For Ezra-Zion Gooch, learning to cycle has been about much more than just two wheels.

At just 9 years old, Ezra-Zion took part in several long rides to raise money for charity, including nearly 700km in eight days across Belgium and Holland. He also completed a 600km sponsored cycle from Dunkirk to Germany with his dad Sean, who is a Bikeability instructor himself! These inspirational rides raised money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, in honour of Ezra-Zion’s friend who very sadly passed away.

Ezra is an inspirational cyclist. The ride he did in Holland this year was incredible and inspired my son, the same age, to want to cycle more.”

Ezra-Zion has been a major supporter of Bikeability at his school – setting an example and encouraging other pupils with his dedication and enthusiasm. He has aided his dad in Bikeability sessions and encouraged classmates and others in his school to improve their cycle skills and sign up for further lessons.

He also cycles to school every day (in all weathers), prompting friends who have started riding more after seeing his support for the Bike Bus – great work! Always happy and confident, Ezra-Zion can often be found supporting other young riders to help improve their skills.

A truly inspirational young cyclist, since his win Ezra-Zion has taken on even more cycling challenges, including a duathlon. His enjoyment and love of cycling shines through – thank you for all your support Ezra-Zion!

We’ll be announcing the winners of the 2026 awards on the Celebration of Bikeability Day on 17th July.
